Meet the Great People Working to Make BikeMN #1!

The history of the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota (BikeMN) is about the dedicated bicycle enthusiasts in Minnesota.

In 2008, at the Minnesota Bicycle Summit hosted by Quality Bicycle Products, a group of advocates spent most of the day strategizing about how and why to start a statewide bicycle advocacy and education organization. Many of these members and others, totaling over 50 people, agreed to continue meeting. A newly formed steering committee, leading the effort, had decided on a strategy of reactivating the Minnesota Coalition of Bicyclists, which had been idle for over ten years, and updating its vision, mission, goals and strategies and changing its name.

Thanks to generous lead gifts from Quality Bicycle Products, Erik’s Bike Shop, Penn Cycle, Park Tool and Dero Bike Racks, and the Board of Directors, BikeMN began fulfilling its mission and vision. Dorian Grilley, hired in November 2008 as the full-time Executive Director, is working with volunteers, partner organizations, agencies and staff to make the State of Minnesota the most bicycle-friendly State in the United States.

BikeMN is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization. Your contributions are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.

Our deep gratitude to all the volunteers and people who make BikeMN a great organization and for helping BikeMN to achieve our mission to provide leadership and a unified voice for bicycle education, advocacy and efforts to make Minnesota more bicycle friendly so that more people will ride bicycles more often.

A very special thanks to the initial Board Members and Executive Committee of the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota many of whom were former board members of the Minnesota Coalition of Bicyclists.
