IS YOUR COMMUNITY OR BUSINESS BICYCLE FRIENDLY?

Apply for recognition- Next Deadline: February 18, 2011
BikeMN works with communities and businesses throughout the state to become more bicycle friendly. We believe that living and working in places that promote and support bicycling improves the quality of life for everyone. Minnesota currently has two nationally recognized Bicycle Friendly Communities: Minneapolis (Silver) and Rochester (Bronze). Thirteen Minnesota bicycle friendly businesses have also been recognized nationally.

These bicycle friendly communities and businesses have been awarded through the League of American Bicyclists (LAB), Bicycle Friendly America Program. BikeMN is a avid supporter of this program because it uses simple, objective criteria to rank applicants. LAB also provides feedback to the applicants on how to improve scores for next time as well. We know that it is possible to be bike friendly without official recognition, however the goal of the Bicycle Friendly America Program is to make it simple for any community or business to measure their efforts and make significant improvements.
