GMBWA and BikeMN Invite the Greater Mankato Community to Ride and Walk at the Best Dam Pie Thank You Ride, October 6, 2024

Greater Mankato Bike and Walk Advocates (GMBWA) and the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota (BikeMN) is proud to continue hosting Mankato’s fall destination bike ride this Sunday, October 6th.

We are so grateful for our past sponsors, participants, and volunteers for the past 13 years of having a fun Fall bike ride in our community. On October 6th, we will be thanking our community by having a ride and the best Dam Pie available in southern Minnesota. We will gather around 12pm out at Mount Kato, 20461 Old State Highway 66, Mankato. Prior to the ride and walk, we will preview our plans for our Fall 2025 weekend of activities, scheduled for September 27-28, 2025. At 12:50 pm we will enjoy ride and walk options together. Our rides will stop at the new temporary location of the Dam Store in downtown Mankato!

For the last 13 years, GMBWA has received funds from the Fall bike ride via our sponsors and registrations. Those funds have been intentionally recirculated back into our community to support cycling and walking activities and infrastructure. For example, last year’s ride funds help support new bikes for kids with Mankato BMX and also bikes for families with the YWCA New Americans program.

On Sun, Oct 6, we will donate registration proceeds to the Dam Store owners, the Hruska family, long-time supporters of our Fall ride. As many of us know, the family suffered tremendous loss with the 2024 Spring flood.

While you are enjoying your yummy Dam Store slice of pie, GMBWA board members will present a check to the Hruska family, owners of the Dam Store.

Get registered today! We only have 200 pie pieces for the first 200 registered riders and walkers. Plus when you register, you will have the option to donate to the Dam Store owners and we will include your donation in our presentation to the Hruska family. GMBWA looks forward to supporting future Mankato-area biking and walking events and offer new opportunities for our community and visitors to explore our beautiful region through cycling and walking.
