The 25th Infantry – “Iron Riders” Challenge
Turn your bike into a time machine and Ride to the 1880s, where you can meet the 25th Infantry “Buffalo Soldiers” at Fort Snelling. Learn about their astounding bicycle experiment after they left Fort Snelling—when they rode almost 2000 miles on single-speed bikes loaded with all their gear and provisions. I imagine us recreating a personal challenge of 30/35 miles or a 62-mile metric century that will take us to the places in Minneapolis and Saint Paul that the men of the 25th Infantry built and many that exist to this very day. This bike ride will be supported and met by music, art, and poetry telling the stories of the families, lives, contributions, and accomplishments of the men of the 25th Infantry who fought for liberation and the American Dream in Minnesota.
