Climate Change and Public Health
SHIP, STAC, MEP, and Transportation Forward
BikeMN has had an ongoing relationship with the Minnesota Department of Health and it’s many local partners that implement the physical activity strategies of the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP). You can visit our Community Engagement page to see if we’re working in your community or contact a SHIP Local Contact to see if they are working with us, or request that they reach out to us to begin implementing walk or bike friendly programs.
In addition to our other ongoing education and public health work, in recent years BikeMN has increased our commitment to working with climate issues. Our goal is to ensure that active transportation and safe routes programs and infrastructure are part of the climate change strategies being planned, funded, and implemented as part of transportation programs at the local, region, state, and national levels. This has involved being part of the Transportation Forward Coalition coordinated by Move Minnesota, the Minnesota Environmental Partnership, and MnDOT’s Sustainable Transportation Advisory Council. BikeMN is also exploring ideas and strategies in partnership with Climate Generation: A Will Steger Legacy.
