GreenCorps Returning to BikeMN

BikeMN is excited to announce that we have been chosen as a host site for the MN GreenCorps! Starting this fall, a GreenCorps intern will join our team for an 11 month term, supporting statewide bike and ped education and helping to build green transportation across MN.

BikeMN has a history of partnering with the GreenCorps! Several of our past interns have gone on to work for state agencies and public service organizations such as MNDoT and Richfield Public Schools. This year, we are looking forward to supporting a role which will assist with our engagement efforts in Greater MN – including our work with the Bicycle Friendly America program. Our intern partner will travel to cities across the state and foster important relationships with well established and newer organizations. We can’t wait to get started this fall!

“My year of service as a member of the Minnesota GreenCorps was one of the most fun years of my life, and the reason I was able to make a career transition into the active transportation field. BikeMN was a fantastic host site–with an expert staff that provided wonderful support as I traveled throughout Minnesota, learning and practicing the education and outreach skills I now use every day in my current position”.

-Tim Brackett, Safe Routes to School Coordinator for Richfield Public Schools

Minnesota GreenCorps is currently accepting applications to participate in their internship program through June 5th. If working at a place like BikeMN sounds interesting to you, follow this link to find out more!

“Minnesota GreenCorps members serve full-time at environmental nonprofits, government agencies, tribal nations, public schools, and educational institutions from mid-September through mid-August each year. Members build organizational and community capacity and build climate resiliency by supporting environmental projects aligned with one of four topic areas: community readiness and outreach, energy conservation and green transportation, stormwater and forestry, or waste reduction and recycling.” -MN GreenCorps Website

GreenCorps members are paid through the program, receive health insurance, and receive a stipend for educational expenses. Not to mention, getting to spend time at an organization like BikeMN as we work towards a more sustainable Minnesota!
